Resources for Military Families
“The ability to make connections and
tap into resources can be huge for
aging veterans and their families.”
Andre Wing, Program Manager
VT Military & Family Support Center

Did you know there are a number of resources available to our clients or their families who have served in the military? Of the 46,000 veterans residing in Vermont, 65% of them are 60 or older. To better serve this population, Silver Leaf has established an active connection with the Vermont Veterans Outreach Service, a statewide program managed through the Vermont National Guard.
Vermont Veterans Outreach Service offers:
- Direct and prompt link to services and resources
- Help to secure free or low-cost wheelchairs, walkers, other medical equipment
- Referrals to organizations that may offer help with finances: bill paying, medications, in-home care services
- Veteran liaison at the VA Hospital in White River Junction to accompany new patients to their appointments
Whether you enlisted or served in Vermont or elsewhere, in any branch of the military, you, may be eligible for benefits related to in-home care. There is federal and state funding available for on-going support of former military personnel. These benefits were hard-earned and well-deserved by anyone who has been deployed in active combat and their families. Those who served domestically may also qualify for services and support.
